About the Temple

Nestled in the heart of Balagere, Sri Abhaya Anjaneya Swamy Temple has stood as a beacon of faith, courage, and devotion since the 1700s. Built through the collective efforts of the villagers, it continues to thrive through community participation and hereditary priestly service. The temple honours Lord Hanuman in his form of Abhaya Anjaneya his raised hand in Abhaya Mudra blessing devotees with courage, protection, and freedom from fear.

History

Built with the collective faith of the villagers of Balagere in the 1700s, the temple has grown through community service and devotion. It stands as a symbol of fearlessness, protection, and strength.

Temple worship has been carried forward for generations by the priestly family. The present chief priest, Sri T. S. Ananthamurthy (Pradhan Archaka), continues a four-generation lineage of uninterrupted worship, following the path established by his father Sri Shravan and earlier generations. The temple also receives support from the Muzrai Department of Karnataka.

Daily Worship

The morning worship begins with sacred Abhisheka rituals, where the deity is bathed with milk, curd, ghee, honey, sugar, wheat, and coconut, accompanied by Vedic chants. The deity is then adorned with fresh flowers, Tulsi, Sindur, and Kumkum. Tuesdays and Saturdays attract especially large gatherings, considered most auspicious for Hanuman worship.
