About the Temple

Located in the old village area of Bellandur, Shri Kodandarama Swamy Temple is a peaceful community temple dedicated to Lord Kodandarama — the divine form of Lord Rama holding the Kodanda bow. Though modest in size, the temple carries deep emotional and spiritual significance for local residents and devotees.

History

According to local temple tradition, the temple began as a small family-built Rama shrine established by villagers nearly three decades ago. The primary temple structures are believed to have been installed around 30 years ago, reflecting the devotion of the local community during the early years of Bellandur village.

Over time, the temple became more than just a family shrine. After an unfortunate incident in which the temple hundi (donation box) was stolen, the villagers of Bellandur collectively came forward to support and rebuild the temple through donations and seva. This strengthened the bond between the temple and the community, transforming it into a shared spiritual space maintained through public faith.

A Place of Peace

Today, the temple is especially known as a place of peace, silence, and emotional comfort amidst the fast-paced life of Bengaluru. Many devotees — including working professionals from nearby tech parks — visit after work seeking calmness and mental relief.

A unique devotional practice here is the writing of "Sri Rama" nama on paper. Devotees quietly sit within the temple premises and write the divine name repeatedly as a meditative act of devotion, which regular visitors say brings mental peace and focus.
